- Communication FUNdamentals – 2nd Edition by Jean Morrison
This 2nd edition illustrated 78-page book uses the metaphors of Jackal and Giraffe to represent two distinct ways we orient our thinking, speaking, listening, and responding – either in ways that stimulate separation, stress and upset (the Jackal way), or in ways that connect us to the heart of a situation and each other (the Giraffe way).
- The Dragon Who Lost His Fire : Authors are Neo Rung, 4 years old, and Liv Larsson, Mediator and Certified Trainer in Nonviolent Communication.
The tale of the dragon Tekshek is a beautiful and encouraging story about the art of listening with the heart. This story is the result of combining moments of storytelling and knowledge of the power of listening. A story that might be even more important for the adult reading it to a beloved child.

- Giraffe Tales: How Giraffes Got Their Ears and How Giraffes Found Their Hearts by Kathleen Macferran, Illustrations by Kenneth Schrag
Giraffe Tales is a two-book series of beautifully illustrated children’s picture story books that are also set to music and narrated in the digital ePub editions. Giraffes, one of the land animals with the largest hearts, are sometimes referred to as symbols of Nonviolent Communication since our hearts are where we hold the feelings and needs we most cherish. In How the Giraffe’s Got Their Ears, the giraffes find joy when they are able to hear the beautiful feelings and needs in all hearts, in other words, when they are able to empathize with each other. How Giraffe’s Found Their Hearts is a story of the importance of being connected to our own hearts so we can live from our own values and joy.
- Zak : A children’s book by Bridget Belgrave, most loved by 7-12 year olds and adults.
“Zak is an introduction to a whole new way of life, of cultivating awareness and tapping in to the powerful, creative inner self. It’s listening to silence with pleasure, and feeling empathy non-verbally. It encourages children to feel things for themselves and to be aware of their inner potentials, regardless of the assumptions and put-downs of others. It is a wholly healing book.”Margaret Harrison, author of ‘Angels on Roller Skates’.
