Welcome to the Resources/Publication Rights area, and thank you for your interest in the translation and foreign publication of the works of Nonviolent Communication (NVC). NVC is practiced in many countries around the world, and mother tongue translation and subsequent publication of NVC books greatly enhances prospects for sharing NVC worldwide. Your efforts will help spread NVC in non-English-speaking areas, and in English-speaking areas outside the U.S.

The core messages of NVC translate very well into other languages. People everywhere will benefit from your efforts to promote a more peaceful world. If you're from a region that does not yet have these NVC works translated into your language, we encourage you to consider working with us to have them translated and published in your area.

We're friendly and easy to work with, and we'll work hard to support your efforts. Acceptance and review policies vary slightly between the materials published by PuddleDancer Press (PDP), but we are committed to helping spread NVC throughout the world.

2 Steps to Making NVC Works Available in Your Region

Step 1:
Click on the link below to check the copyright/publication status of the PDP published material you wish to translate and/or publish.

Foreign Rights publication status of NVC works—This document includes: contact information for existing foreign language publishers, the language they publish in, and the NVC Works which Works that they have the rights to publish.

Worldwide distributors of English language NVC works—This document includes contact information for distributors of the English language version of our Trade Editions worldwide.

In English-speaking areas outside the U.S.--where shipping English versions of NVC books may be cost-prohibitive--we will consider selling English language rights for our publication s so local printing becomes possible.

Step 2:
Determine the copyright holder. Copyrights for NVC-related publications are held by either Puddledancer Press, the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC), or by the author of the material. Copyright ownership is usually indicated on the material itself. Acceptance and review policies vary slightly, but all NVC copyright holders are committed to helping to spread NVC around the world.

If the copyright is held by Puddledancer Press, contact us to discuss translation or publication options. Begin by reviewing the tip sheet on the link below. It will help you prepare to discuss your needs with us.

If the copyright is held by CNVC or the author, contact them directly about your project.

Our Goals at PuddleDancer Press

At PuddleDancer Press, we pledge to encourage translation of NVC works into every language. We support worldwide efforts to publish and distribute NVC works in the following ways:

  1. Partner with established publishers in each country or language to make NVC works available as widely as possible through retail sales outlets.
  2. Work with local NVC supporters in making translations available in the absence of an established publisher.
  3. Support local NVC communities by offering NVC publications at the best wholesale prices available to trainers and organizers worldwide.

Again, thank you for your interest in Foreign Languages and Rights and translating NVC works published by PuddleDancer Press (PDP). We appreciate your efforts to help spread NVC around the world.
