Compassionate Parenting Tip -- Week 45

When you want your children to do something they don't want to do, it can be tempting to use power over them, and manipulate them either with threat of punishment or promise of reward.

When a child treats another child this way, it is called bullying. When a parent treats a child this way, it is often considered normal parenting. Notice when you are using power-over techniques to get your child to do what you want him/her to do. How does your child react to you at these times?
